Four Down, Two To Go

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Today we had another update meeting with our molder. They will be finished tomorrow 5-26-10 with 4 out of the 6 mold runs. Some of the gates and certain parts of the mold had to be polished up better after they began the full scale run, which set back the projected completion times. The jig, which is designed to work on both the main housing as well as the upper receiver cover is almost completed. They are waiting on some lock levers which will lock down the part in the position it needs to remain in. They should arrive any day now. They fully expect to begin running one of the final two molds by Tuesday, June 1st.

On another note, it looks like we are going to have another shop install the inserts. Our molder has never had to heat stake inserts in material as hard as our stock parts before. Without the right machine, it is taking three times longer to insert than anticipated. They have already dropped off sample parts today and should have the answers we need in a day or two. This will help speed up the inserting process.

As our policy has always been for the pre-sale, if the wait becomes an issue for any reason, please contact us for a full refund.

Two Down, Four To Go

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

Our molder has completed the runs on two of six parts. The Friday third shift was scheduled to set up the 3rd mold to begin the run Monday 5-17-10. It seems to be taking two days to run the parts per mold. Some of the inserting is able to be done between cycles which will help save time in the long run. The jigs for the final 2 molds are well on their way to completion.

Production Starting This Monday 5-10-10

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

The meeting we had with our molder this past Monday was very productive. We determined what kind of jigs we will need to correct the initial cooling issues of two of the parts. Our molder believes the jigs should be done by the first part of this coming week. It was confirmed today that the material for our first run will be in house this Friday 5-7-10. Tomorrow (Thurs.) our molder is beginning a third shift which will enable our molds, that don’t require jigs, to begin to be run Monday morning. To be clear, all of the molds will not be run on Monday morning. This process will take several days. We will have a better idea of how long this process will take after the first day or two. After the parts are produced, several of the parts will require inserts. Once completed, we will have to get the parts to our shop where the final bit of assembly and packaging will take place. We are getting very close to our final count down before shipping starts, which will end our 25% discount and 2 free accessories offer. Please refer to our earlier posts regarding any shipping questions.
